Spilled coffee results in assault

On August 15, 2016, shortly after 10:30 a.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to assault that had just occurred at a local business on Charles Walk in the City of Elliot Lake. 

A female customer was asked to pass a box of tissue and in doing so she accidentally spilled another customer’s coffee.  An argument ensued between the two and escalated to the male customer grabbing the female by the shoulders. 

As a result, William Cox, 57 years of age, from Elliot Lake, was charged with:  Assault.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on October 4, 2016.
