Senior of the Year Award handed out

On Tuesday, May 30, 2017 Mayor Al McDonald presented Guy Fournier with the Senior of the Year 2017 on behalf of the Corporation of the City of North Bay.

“Guy is truly a local champion that loves his city. He does make a difference in our community on so many fronts,” stated Mayor Al McDonald.

As the incoming President of United Way/Centraide North East Ontario - Nord-est de l'Ontario, Guy was commended by United Way. His assistance in the establishment of the local office and fundraising efforts have been integral to United Way's local success.

Michael Cullen, Executive Director of United Way, stated, "It is through the selfless giving of volunteers such as Guy that United Way is able to assist communities to support local programming and initiatives in order to create opportunities for better lives for everyone. We are thrilled that he has been recognized in this way."

Guy also received letters of support for his work in the establishment of the North Bay Community Foundation and his many, many years of service to the Knights of Columbus.

As well, Guy supports the French Cultural Organizations in North Bay including Les compagnons. He celebrates various Francophone events such as Les Carnaval, Noel and St. Jean Baptiste Day.
