Local comedian Clint Couchie is hoping to create some laughs in August and perhaps make comedy an annual event in North Bay.

From August 12th to 15th, the Moose Cookhouse will host the North Bay Comedy Festival which will include a new headline performer every night.

Anishinaabe/Metis comedian and Second City grad Ryan McMahon will take the stage Wednesday night.    Toronto based comedian Gavin Stephens will put his improvisation and crowd work into action on Thursday.    On Friday it will be award winning comedian Sandra Battaglini who will headline the night and Saturday night Gilson Lubin, who has won international stand-up comedy awards will take centre stage.

Couchie is excited about the potential for this unique festival.

“It’s important for us to have a venue to perform and I think it’s something that can be successful in North Bay,” said Couchie.

Couchie hopes the intimate setting at Moose’s will lead to packed venues for the four-night event.

“Everybody can be packed into a small space,” said Couchie.

“We want people to come out and have a good time and have a lot of laughs.”
