Man identified in Whitestone fire death

On January 22, shortly before 5 a.m., West Parry Sound OPP officers responded to a fatal fire at a residence in Whitestone, west of Sundridge..

The home was fully engulfed in flames and during the process of fighting the fire, a single body was recovered.

His identity has been confirmed by the Ontario Coroner's Office and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS) as Michael Landry, a 53-year-old male from Whitestone.  

Members of the West Parry Sound OPP Detachment and The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal are still investigating.    

The Whitestone Fire Department and the Magnetawan Fire Department fought the house fire.
