Man assaults girlfriend, then turns on cop

While police were speaking with the boyfriend he became irate and assaulted one of the officers

On February 14, shortly after 10:30 p.m., OPP responded to an assault that occurred in the Town of Blind River.

Police learned that a man had assaulted his girlfriend while she was trying to run from him. While police were speaking with the boyfriend he became irate and assaulted one of the officers. 

On February 20, police learned the man had breached his conditions by engaging in an argument with his girlfriend. Investigation determined the male had assaulted his girlfriend once more, and was a suspended driver.

As a result of the investigation, a 42-year-old male from Bruce Mines was charged with:

  • Three counts of Assault - Spousal
  • Assault Peace Officer, 
  • Uttering Threats-Cause or Bodily Harm,
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking, and
  • Driving While Under Suspension
