Le Fromage Country Market and General Store in Verner officially opened May 25th with a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony.

Jen Bywater of Vested Interest Trading and part-owner of Le Fromage joined with West Nipissing Mayor Joanne Savage and councillors Normand Roberge and Guilles Tessier.

Up to 1,000 people showed up in support of the new store.

“We’re so happy to have Le Fromage join our community.," said Savage. "It is precisely this type of business activity which will help our region flourish.”

Bywater took a moment to express how thankful the owners are for the public’s support and the hard work of the store staff.

“We are so overwhelmed by the positive response that we’ve received from the local community, campers, and travellers alike. We are blessed to have some of the best staff. We want to thank our full time staff: Debbie, Lori, Rolande, and Suzanne for their dedicated and incredible service. And we want to thank our part time staff as well. We are so excited to grow our business, our sales, and our employee base.”

Thornloe Cheese general manager Rhonda Wood says that “Le Fromage is now the largest retailer of Thornloe Cheese in Northern Ontario.” Le Fromage has also announced a new partnership with Gauthier Farms whereby there will be a fresh produce tent on-site.

In an effort to be a premiere destination spot and rest area on Hwy 17, Le Fromage announced a new potty area for dogs which will give dog lovers a convenient place to stop and give their dogs a break. Free doggy treats and bags are provided. Le Fromage has created new jobs in the community and is currently looking to take on new hires.
