Presented in partnership by the North Bay Heritage Gardeners

and the North Bay Horticultural Society

Monday, June 22, 2015 from 6-9pm

LOCATION:  St. Brice’s Church

1225 Cassells St., North Bay

Home-based canning is becoming very popular and this peaking interest indicates that many families are keen to learn more about healthy, local, and sustainable foods.  We want to carry on our grandmother’s traditions, save food costs and eat fewer processed foods.

Canning is one of the methods that we use to preserve the harvest of our gardens for the entire year.  Few people however want to process endless jars throughout the summer.

Today, many families have a desire to make a few jars of tasty spreads, jams or condiments, which can be made easily and simply, taking advantage of our garden bounty as it comes available.  We will highlight recipes that make small batches for fast preparation (a new kind of fast food…).

This workshop will teach the basics and you will leave with the knowledge to do home-based canning on your own, easily and safely.

Get excited about canning and register for our Monday June 22 session being held at the St. Brice’s Church, 1225 Cassells St. from 6-9pm.  The cost is 15.00 and each participant will receive a booklet of instructions and recipes, as well as a chance to win a door prize .

This workshop is expected to fill up quickly so those interested are encouraged to register soon.

Participants must pre-register by noon on June 15 by calling 705-472-4006 or emailing [email protected]  Fee must also be paid June 15 to reserve your space.
