NORTH BAY -  Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is asking constituents to consider nominating worthy individuals for the 5th edition of the Ontario Francophonie Awards.

Created in 2006, this special recognition program honours citizens who have made progress possible and played a key role in fostering a stronger Francophone community in Ontario.

Traditionally awarded every two years, the Ontario Francophonie Awards honour Francophonie and those who are not Francophone but promote the French language and culture. The award recognizes those who, in the last five years, have made an outstanding contribution to the political, social, economic and cultural vitality and well-being of Ontario's Francophone community. Since 2010, Ontario also awards a Youth Francophonie Award.

The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m. July 31, 2015.

Nomination forms can be obtained from MPP Fedeli’s constituency office, or online at http://www.ofa.gov.on.ca/docs/ofa-prixfranco-form.pdf

The 2015 Ontario Francophonie Awards will be presented on October 23, 2015, to coincide with the closing weekend of the Celebrations of 400 years of French presence in Ontario.

“I urge you to put forward the name of a member of our vibrant Francophone community who you feel is deserving of recognition,” Fedeli said.
