The community is invited to stop by The Empire, at 425 Fraser Street, on Friday, July 24th from 11am—1:30pm.

For a minimum $5 donation guests can drop in and enjoy the following:

Eat-in or take-out a holiday-themed sandwich wrap, with turkey, stuffing, & cranberry
• Enjoy one of our famous Empire Cookies  and a beverage
• The Empire will be decorated for the day with Christmas music playing
• Our own residents, staff and volunteers -- “The Empire Elves” – will be on hand to help package and serve the food prepared by our Chef and Culinary Team.
• Members of the Salvation Army will be on site as well, to assist our elves and more importantly to thank the public for making a contribution

The Empire partnered with the local Salvation Army to help get things rolling early for their 2015 Kettle Drive.  Last year over $100,000 was raised; and resulted in over 700 Christmas hampers going out to couples and individuals in need, not eligible for help from The Santa Fund.

Captain Val Redner explains “For us, Christmas goes on all through the year. In addition to the hundreds of hampers we give out in December, we also run a food bank and serve meals for the entire year.”

The Empire’s General Manager, Ariane Savard says it’s a great way for residents of the facility to contribute to a good cause as well. “Our residents are still proud to play an active role in their community, and they often find ways to donate time or money to worthwhile efforts throughout the year. They love seeing friends and neighbours stop into their home for a visit, during special events like this one.”

The organizers hope that people who are working during the 24th can use the fundraiser as a fun way to kick start their weekend, before heading to the cottage, lake or to Mattawa for Voyageur Days.
