On January 23 & 24, the Sudbury Highway Safety Division of the Ontario Provincial Police will be conducting a two-day Commercial Motor Vehicle Blitz. "PROJECT SLOW DOWN" will target CMV's exceeding the posted speed limits in the Sudbury & Parry Sound Districts.

Using moving/stationary radar and Lidar, HSD and Detachment members of the OPP and our partners from the Greater Sudbury Police and Ministry of Transportation will conduct speed enforcement on Highways: 17, 69,124 and 144.

The North East Region is a critical transportation route to move goods across Canada.

So far in 2018, 17% of all motor vehicle collisions on OPP patrolled roads in the Region have involved a Commercial Motor Vehicle.

Unit Commander Traffic and Marine Northeast Region Inspector Scott Hlady states " In an effort to promote public and traffic safety, our officers will focus on some key driving behaviours that will have a positive outcome to reduce these serious and sometimes fatal collisions."
