Canadore College Hosts Convocation Celebrations

(NORTH BAY, ONT.) -- Canadore College is hosting its Convocation Ceremonies for the Schools of Business and Management; Community Justice and Police Studies; Culinary Arts; Language, Access and Preparatory; Media, Design and Dramatic Arts; and Sport and Recreation on May 27.

Guest speaker Karen Creditor, CEO of the Ontario College Application Service (OCAS), will be speaking to approximately 325 graduates.

Creditor, the former director of handheld operations at Research in Motion (RIM), brings together corporate, academic and community service leadership to OCAS operations. She has led data warehousing, application development and software program teams for several global corporations. Creditor also has experience in postsecondary curriculum development, classroom instruction and recently formulated an online learning program. She has served as marketing chair on the board of directors for Our World Services, an Illinois community service agency, as well as on a variety of advisory boards for professional societies and academic programs.  She has led seminars at the Centre for Applied Information Technology at Washington University and holds a patent in mobile device management.

“One of Karen’s strengths is that she brings a fresh and intelligent perspective to any given situation,” said George Burton, President and CEO of Canadore College. “Her ability to research, analyze and develop insightful solutions for client groups is remarkable. Although her role as a student success support has largely been unseen by our graduates and their families, she has been working tirelessly to improve transitions into postsecondary, which has a profound impact on all of us.”

Canadore is very proud of its graduates for their accomplishments and for achieving their education goals. Each year, approximately 1,000 students graduate from the College, joining a network of 42,000 alumni working across the globe.

The ceremonies are being held at the College Drive Campus (100 College Drive, North Bay, Ont.) on May 27 at 10 a.m. The remaining Convocation Ceremonies will take place on:
