Youth Held in Connection with Murder Investigation

In the early morning hours of September 3rd, 2006, a young female was fatally stabbed while attending a house party in Fort Albany, Ontario. Later that date, the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) of the Ontario Provincial Police was requested to assist the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service with the reported homicide investigation.

A female youth has been charged with 2nd degree murder in connection with the death of the Fort Albany resident. In accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the names of the victim and the accused are not being released at this time. The accused is scheduled to appear in a Timmins court on Tuesday the 5th of September, 2006.

Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service will be continuing the investigation with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police under the direction of Detective Inspector Ken Leppert, Criminal Investigation Branch.
