A 32-year-old Sudbury woman faces multiple charges after a stolen car was involved in a pair of collisions, including with a police cruiser.

At 10 p.m. Friday, November 26, North Bay police officers responded to reports that a woman had stolen a vehicle from the parking lot of a business on Fisher Street.

They saw the vehicle speeding along Lakeshore Drive, before stopping in a parking lot there.

When an officer tried to arrest her, she struck the vehicle with the stolen vehicle, fled the scene while driving "erratically," and struck another vehicle on the road.

Police gave chase for a short period of time then watched her drive into a ditch on Highway 654. At this point, officers arrested her. They say the woman and her victims in this incident are not known to one another.

Billy Michelle Lynn Paton, female, 32,  is charged with:

  • Theft of a motor vehicle

  • Dangerous operation
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with a demand
  • Three counts of failure to comply with a release order
