The Winnipeg Sun is reporting that a city woman died in a motorcycle crash on a western highway Saturday. She is the third person to die in such a crash this week three km east of the Manitoba-Saskatchewan boundary.

RCMP reports indicate that the victim’s husband was driving the motorcycle at about 10 a.m. when it went out of control on a highway, which was slippery due to mud and rain, after passing a tractor-trailer unit. They say the crash occured as the motorcycle was returning to the westbound lane after passing the vehicle.

Dead is 63-year-old Anita Loeffen.

The RCMP further report that Frank Loeffen, the woman’s husband, survived the crash and is receiving care in hospital in Winnipeg.

Police say both were wearing helmets and alcohol is not considered a factor.
