Widdifield honours Canadian Hero

Widdifield teachers Marg McDiarmid (l) and Jocelyn Bell sport new looks after the 5th Annual Terry Fox Walk, Run and Roll event Friday.

The Widdifield family of schools once again demonstrated what being a community leader is all about Friday by hosting their 5th Annual Terry Fox Walk, Run and Roll event, in honour of the Canadian hero's inspirational journey.

It was 29 years ago that Fox started out on his cross country run known as the 'Marathon of Hope' to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Widdifield teacher Gina Armstrong-Aro says she is a living example of what Fox's efforts have meant to those facing cancer.



Following the walk Wildcat Teachers honoured their commitment to the fundraiser by taking a few pies in the face.





An estimated 1,500 students from Widdifield, W.J. Fricker and E.T. Carmichael took part.
