We're not at war! 22 Wing doing military training

It will focus on domestic events dealing with security, and is designed to ensure all training objectives are met within the wing’s area of operation

From November 27 to 29, local population can expect to see increased military activity as training takes place at 22 Wing/Canadian Forces Base North Bay.

The exercise will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

Some items North Bay residents could encounter include military members wearing protective gear and carrying weapons on base.

Expect vehicle checkpoints and possible delays at three potential locations:

  • Duxford Rd. and Airport Rd.,
  • Ayr St. and Carmichael Dr., and at
  • Manston Cres. and Duxford Rd.

"The overall scenario is based on potential threats to 22 Wing. These threats require extensive military training to support the safety objectives of the base and are an opportunity for command to achieve an increased level of preparedness for operations," states a 22 Wing news release. 

It will focus on domestic events dealing with security, and is designed to ensure all training objectives are met within the wing’s area of operation.

The exercise ensures a ready and able command that is able to take the lead in any defence or security issue threatening 22 Wing.
