North Bay - Staff Sergeant Irving Sloss welcomes the newest member of the North Bay OPP Detachment, Constable Rob Mondor. Constable Rob Mondor has recently taken up his new post in North Bay as the Canine Handler.

Backgrounder

Constable Rob Mondor has been a member of the Ontario Provincial Police for 12 years. Constable Mondor began his policing career in Matheson. He later worked in Smooth Rock Falls before becoming the Canine Handler in the Sudbury six years ago.

Stryker is a four year old Sheppard who has been in service for three years. Stryker’s main duties are tracking criminals and searching for lost or missing people. He is also trained in aggression, evidence search, and crowd management.

Whereas Midnight is a 6 year old black lab who is trained in narcotic detection as well as firearms and ammunition. Midnight is a passive detection dog where he sits when he finds something and is therefore effective when working around people.

Today, 27 teams: each consisting of a dog and a handler, are stationed at strategic points across the province and provide canine support for search and rescue operations, tracking wanted persons, detecting narcotics, explosives, cadaver and physical evidence.

Staff Sergeant Irving Sloss of the North Bay Detachment is pleased to have Constable Rob Mondor, Stryker and Midnight, joined his team.
