Katie McKay is heartfelt about the success of the MS Walk 2015 that took place on the North Bay Waterfront on Sunday.

Almost $40,400 was raised.

Over 200 participants enjoyed the sun along the Kate Pace Way while walking for pledges for multiple sclerosis or MS research.

"This event is very important to me because my dad had primary progressive multiple sclerosis (MS). The doctors thought that he may have he might have had MS much earlier on in his life but was diagnosed later. He has since passed on in 2012."

"What my family went through, people don't see. It is a very invisible disease so we need to hold events such as the MS Walk to bring awareness to the issue."

McKay walked the event for fourteen years. She now works hard to create fun for the walkers as the annual event’s coordinator. “There is Ken the Balloon Dude and face painting to amuse the children. I want to make it fun for everybody.”

The funds raised support research into the cause, treatment, and cure of MS as well as programs for those affected by MS.

Donations towards the MS Walk 2015 are in the form of pledges toward a participant. They are accepted for one more month on the website. http://mssoc.convio.net/site/TR?fr_id=4380&pg=pfind&s_tr_part_finder_search_mode=basic
