Update on Highway 124 fatal...charge laid

A young driver faces a pretty serious charge following a traffic accident earlier this month that killed David Robb, 56  from Ahmic Harbour, just west of Sundridge. 

UPDATE: REOPENED (Fatal accident closes Highway 124)

On January 16, at 7:24 pm, West Parry Sound OPP responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 124 in McKellar Township. 

As a result, Thomas Hennig, 22 years of age of McKellar Township, near Sundridge, was arrested. He is now charged with one count of Criminal Negligence Causing Death.

Hennig was remanded into custody until his bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice on Friday, January 27.

The West Parry Sound OPP Crime Unit, supported by the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators, OPP Northeast Regional Support Team, under the direction of Detective Inspector Rob Matthews of the Criminal Investigation Branch are continuing their investigation.

Police are asking anyone travelling on Highway 124 between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on the evening on January 16, and who may have information regarding this incident to contact the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or 705-746-4225.
