This morning, Norgalv Ltd hosted a virtual grand opening for its state-of-the-art hot-dip galvanizing plant.

The environmentally friendly, semi-autonomous plant has been operating since January 2021 and officials say features world-leading technology that makes it the most advanced plant of its kind in all of Ontario.

The virtual event involved municipal, provincial, and federal community leaders.

Andre van Soelen, Norgalv's Managing Director and Commercial Manager hosted a virtual tour of the plant during an online media conference.

“With already over 30 full-time employees, Norgalv is currently running a two-shift system, and it won’t be long before we are at three shifts,” stated van Soelen.

“We’re very proud of the positive impact that we will continue to have on the economy and society of Northern Ontario, and we look forward to growing along with the City of North Bay.”

Norgalv Ltd is a Canadian start-up.

Soelen adds that the company elected to invest in Northern Ontario, and North Bay specifically, because of the region’s openness to new investment and proximity to important customers.

Officials believe the new business will be a boon to the Northern Ontario economy, creating 45 new jobs while luring new business to the region.
