Two North Bay Police officers were sworn into higher ranks Monday as part of recent promotions within the North Bay Police Service.

The North Bay Police Service celebrated the advancements with a special ceremony at the North Bay Police Headquarters.

Promoted to the rank of Inspector is Staff/Sergeant Shawn Devine and promoted to the rank of Staff/Sergeant is Sgt Alan Kraft.

The promotions coincide with the retirement of fellow officers Tim Nesbitt and Dave Byrnes.

Police Chief Paul Cook says with the age gap in the service growing larger with the influx of younger inexperienced recruits this it is even more important to have experienced administrators.

Meanwhile Inspector Devine says climbing the ranks is far more involved and different from other professions.
