Three more busted for impaired driving

North Bay – In the last week, OPP officers in the North Bay cluster removed three more impaired drivers from our area highways as well as two 3-day suspensions.

On Friday, July 10th, 2009 at 8:30 p.m. on Highway 17 in Commanda Township, North Bay OPP officer stopped a motor vehicle as a result of a Highway Traffic Act violation. Driver, Kyle W. CADGER, 24 years old of North Bay, was charged with Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content / Motor Vehicle, under s. 253(1) (b) Criminal Code (CC). CADGER is scheduled to appear for court in North Bay on August 18th, 2009.

On Wednesday, July 15th, 2009 at 2:45 p.m., OPP officers from the SAVE unit and North Bay Detachment were doing general patrol on All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV) when they stopped a motor vehicle on Murphy’s Road in Mattawan Township after they suspected the driver of being impaired. Francoise R. HALLE, 75 years old of Mattawa, was charged with Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content / Motor Vehicle, under s. 253(1) (b) CC. HALLE is scheduled to appear for court in Mattawa on September 9th, 2009. As well, HALLE was charged under the Liquor Licence Act with consuming liquor in other than licensed premises, residence or private place.

On Thursday, July 16th, 2009 at approximately 12 noon, a Mattawa OPP officer was conducting routine patrol when he stopped a motorist. As a result, both the driver and his passenger are facing several charges. Edgar DEFORGE, 43 years old, and Zachary ALEXANDER, 18 years old both of North Bay are each facing charges of Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana - under 30grams as per s. 4(1) Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA); Unauthorized Possession of Weapon as per s. 91(2) CC; Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 as per s. 354(1) (a) CC. Both are scheduled to appear in Mattawa for court on September 9th, 2009.

On Friday, July 17th, 2009, at 2:00 a.m. a Powassan OPP officer stopped a motor vehicle as a result of a traffic violation on Highway 94 in Callander, Ontario. The driver, Steven MJ DESCHAMPS, 38 years old of Chisolm Township was charged with Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content / Motor Vehicle, under s. 253(1) (b) CC and with Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana - under 30 grams as per s. 4(1) CDSA. DESCHAMPS is scheduled to appear for court in North Bay on September 1st, 2009.
