Three arrested in drug bust

A search warrant issued to a Smith Rd. home in North Bay and an OPP vehicle stop in Almaguin Highlands has resulted in three arrests relating to drug offenses.

On June 10, officers from the OPP Community Street Crime Unit, Ontario Crime Enforcement Bureau, North Bay OPP, and North Bay Police Service executed the warrant. 

Almaguin Highlands OPP assisted by stopping a vehicle and arresting two of the suspects.   

Officers seized drugs suspected to be: fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine pills, ecstasy pills and MDMA and more than $7,000 in cash from the residence.   

The street value of the drugs is approximately $55,000.

As a result of the warrant, three people were arrested and charged. 

Stephane Paquette, 46, of North Bay is charged with:

  • Four counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 

Paquette was held pending bail. 

25 year old from Brampton is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking 
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

A  24 year old from Scarborough is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Those two were released on an undertaking to attend the Ontario Court of Justice on August 11 in North Bay.
