The gathering place opened its doors in September, 2003.

As of December 31, 2011, the gathering place reached the milestone of 200,000 meals served. This represents an average of 2,000 meals served each and every month since we opened our doors.

This simply would not have been attainable without the hard work and generosity of the citizens of North Bay who donate funds, time and food to ensure that the gathering place can continue its mission of neighbours serving neighbours in need. While we are proud of this achievement, it highlights the number of people in our community who continue to live in need, and regularly depend on emergency food programs for their basic nutritional requirements.

Approximately 60 percent of those being served at the gathering place live with mental illness and/or addiction. The benefits they receive are not sufficient to cover the cost of decent housing, food, and all the necessities of life such as clothing, transportation, laundry etc.

As we celebrate our achievements, we always remember our mission statement “to provide a hot meal in a warm environment to those in need”.
