Another sign that internet news is on the rise while traditional media continues to decline---BayToday has more than tripled its audience over the past couple of months.

In August, BayToday was just shy of 1.8 million monthly page views. That’s three times the number for last August.

“We are thrilled about the progress with BayToday which has come about from assembling an excellent news team,” said Jeff Elgie, CEO of Village Media Inc, the parent company of BayToday.

“Village media continues to be focused on producing hyper local content within our Northern communities. With sites in Sault Ste. Marie, North Bay and Timmins, we are proud to be Northern-owned and operated.”

Mike Trahan, BayToday General Sales Manager said readership increases means great news for advertisers.

“BayToday is the most cost effective media for business to reach their potential customers and drive traffic to their business,’ he explained.

Elgie says the company’s expansion is continuing with imminent news about a Sudbury launch, followed by plans to enter Barrie next year.

“While most other media are laying off staff and cutting costs, Village Media continues to expand and looks forward to a very bright future.” he added.
