The North Bay Detachment of the OPP is reminding operators of snowmobiles to slow down when travelling on the trails as we get closer to the March Break.

"Between March 3, and March 6, the North Bay OPP has responded to two serious collisions on area trails where the drivers were injured after being involved in collisions," states  Constable Nathalie Muirhead.

With these collisions and other fatalities in the area over the last couple of months the OPP wants the public to know that it will continue to be out on the trails enforcing the laws, including the speed limit, and there will be a zero tolerance in place to prevent any further injuries or fatalities.

"Speeding, driving too fast for the conditions, and alcohol/drug impairment are the leading causes of snowmobile fatalities," added  Constable Muirhead. "The OPP would like to remind operators that the safety on the trails is everyone's responsibility, and everyone needs to do their part."
