Several groups receiving Ontario Arts Council grants

Several local groups and organizations are receiving funding through the Ontario Arts Council, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced today.

Project grants are as follows:

 $13,000 for the Capitol Centre through the Ontario Dances program;

 $11,192 for Le Centre culturel Les Compagnons through the Aide à la diffusion artistique project program toward its Culture franco 2011-2012 arts programming;

 $9,000 for Ice Follies Biennial Inc. through the Visual Arts Projects program toward its Ice Follies 2012, a site-specific art exhibition held on a frozen lake;

 $4,000 for Brood Records Collective through the Northern Arts program toward its Live at the Opera concert series and podcast to be hosted at Opera Bakery Café in North Bay, Ontario during Winter 2011/2012.

Operating grants are as follows:

 $29,000 for Aanmitaagzi through the Community & Multidisciplinary Arts Organizations program toward its 2011-2012 operations. Aanmitaagzi is a multi-disciplinary artist-run Aboriginal arts organization founded in 2006 to serve artists and community members from Nipissing First Nation and the surrounding area;

 $27,550 for the W.K.P. Kennedy Gallery through the Public Art Galleries program toward its 2012 operations.

“My congratulations go out to all these groups who continue to work hard to contribute to the rich social and cultural fabric in our communities,” said Fedeli.
