School Bus initiative success

The North Bay Police Service wishes to advise that the recent 2 week School Bus initiative that ran from September 4, 2007 until September 14, 2007 was successful.

There were 7 Provincial Offence Notices (Tickets) issued in the following areas;

- 4 speeding tickets processed in the school zone of Marshall Ave

- 2 warnings issued in the school zone of 1200 Lakeshore Drive,

- 1 warning of Fail to Stop for School Bus at O’Brien St and McKeown

There are currently 2 Fail to Stop for School Bus investigations pending that occurred on Lakeshore Dr between Birch’s Road and Premier Road.

The service also says that in general the message was well received as the driving public has been cognitive of the need to stop for school buses and to slow down within school zones.
