Road Salt shortage in North Bay?

A number of local stores sold out of road salt after last week's freezing rain

If you are still dealing with an icy driveway or sidewalk at your home, you likely were not able to remedy the problem by grabbing some salt in North Bay this weekend.

That's because many local stores that carry road salt were sold out.

Locations such as Home Hardware at Nipissing Plaza say they won't be getting more until later in the week.

Meantime, Canadian Tire, which also was out of road salt this weekend, is expecting to get a new shipment of the bags of de-icing material by today or Tuesday.

Canadian Tire officials say they sold about 30 skids of road salt in four days last week at their North Bay location.

Freezing rain conditions made for treacherous driving conditions - some residents in the area were able to skate on their driveways after the freezing rain episode last week.
