North Bay continues to get whacked by a huge spring storm that has caused cancellations and traffic accidents. Environment Canada says the snow will stop Friday morning, but more snow, up to 14 cm will fall Sunday to Tuesday.

A new snowfall record has already been set for today, as the old record, set in 1939, was just 5.3 cm. Unfortunately the North Bay Airport station snowfall collector is out of service and snowfall amounts were not reported by the station so we can't give the amounts. But as you know, we got hit big-time!

Today's forecast looks like this. Snow at times heavy and blowing snow. Amount 5 to 10 cm. Wind north 30 km/h gusting to 50. High zero.

Additional snow and blowing snow early this evening. Amount 5 cm. Wind north 30 km/h gusting to 50. Low minus 12.

Snow ending Friday morning morning then a mix of sun and cloud. Wind north 30 km/h becoming light in the afternoon. High minus 2

Here's a bit of trivia to pass the time.1977: The Toronto Blue Jays played their inaugural home baseball game at Exhibition Stadium before 44,649 fans. At the start of the game, light, continuous snow fell, winds were southeast at 22 km/h, and there was a -10° windchill. Head umpire Joe Brinkman said he had never seen snow at a ballpark before. Umpire Rich Garcia from Florida said he had never seen snow, period! Blue Jays 9, White Sox 5.
