Heavy rainfall expected to begin late this afternoon and continue into Monday.

An intensifying low pressure system over Oklahoma is forecast to soak southern portions of the province beginning early this morning and spread into northeastern parts late this afternoon.

It will not be a continuous rain, but several rounds of heavier rain are expected with some embedded thunderstorms in many areas.

Total rainfall amounts of 40 to 60 millimetres are anticipated through Monday before it tapers off but some areas which receive more persistent thunderstorms are likely to be impacted by amounts up to 75 mm.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
