Tod did announce the name of the person found at the residence and taken into police custody as 21-year-old Carter Parypa of North Bay. Tod later added Parypa was in custody "pending charges."

The North Bay Police Criminal Investigation section is leading the ongoing investigation with the assistance of the NBPS Forensic Identification Unit and the OPP's Forensic Identification Services.

"At this time, there is no concern for public safety," said Tod.

Police say the murder investigation began on Saturday shortly after 9 p.m. at a home in the 400 block of Lakeshore Drive in North Bay after officers responded to a call and found one person dead in the home.
