Man arrested after murder on Lakeshore Drive

There is an increased presence in the area north of Lovell Street on Lakeshore Drive as police continue with this homicide investigation

City police are investigating a murder that happened yesterday evening at a home in the 400 block of Lakeshore Drive in North Bay.

Shortly after 9 pm. on March 20 police responded to a call and found one person dead in the home.  

A man at the residence is in police custody. His name has not yet been released by police.

There is an increased presence in the area north of Lovell Street on Lakeshore Drive as police continue with this homicide investigation.

A neighbour told BayToday that there was police activity in that area yesterday afternoon, and police were using searchlights on the corner of Lakeshore and Lovell Ave. Saturday night.

The North Bay Police Criminal Investigation Section is leading the investigation with the assistance of the North Bay Police Forensic Identification Unit and the Ontario Provincial Police Forensic Identification Services.

There is no concern for public safety.

This investigation is in its early stages and police anticipate more information will be made available on Monday, March 22.

It's the city's second murder this year.

Ghislain Nsengiyumva, 20,  from Orleans, Ont., near Ottawa area was charged by the North Bay Police Service with second-degree murder and remains in custody He is charged in relation to the stabbing death of a 29-year-old North Bay man, Jeff Twain, on January 1.
