Rewind: Police make arrest in Dolphin murder case

This was believed to be a targeted event. There is no threat to public safety

A North Bay man is under arrest after a body was found inside a room at the Dolphin Motel on Lakeshore Drive yesterday.

Around 10 a.m. yesterday. police responded to a report of "an individual in need of medical assistance" at the Dolphin.

"Upon arrival, first responders located a deceased individual within a unit at this location. The death was determined to be suspicious in nature," according to police spokesman David Woolley.

An investigation led the Criminal Investigation Section  to arrest a suspect early this morning. He is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

A source says the suspect was living on Sherbrooke St.

"This was believed to be a targeted event. There is no threat to public safety," says Woolley. "The name of the victim and the accused will be released in a further update later today."

Police cannot release the name and formal charges until they are sworn to in court. That will likely occur later today.

The investigation continues and involves the North Bay Police Service’s Major Crime Section, Platoon Investigation Section, Forensic Identification Section, Emergency Response Team, Uniformed Patrol Section and Street Crime Unit.
