PEACE School, an alternative, charitable, not for profit, Ministry validated, private Arts and academics infused, K to 6 school, which launched September 2013 in the North Bay region is considersing redirection, due to insufficient enrollment.

Founder and Executive Director, Susan Terry says, “PEACE School had a successful first year following its 2013 launch, a glowing report from a site visit by the Ministry of Education, and a year full of unique hands on programs provided to its students. It was a delight to watch each one blossom in their own unique way.”

PEACE students receive a full complement of academics infused with the Arts founded on imagination creativity education.

Some of the unique programs offered include meditation, yoga, song, gardening (i.e. permaculture, aquaponics), Skype in the classroom, French and German language study, weekly violin and piano lessons, dance, First Nations studies, Science Fair (students received 3 of the 5 gold medals awarded), frequent field trips, Horse Care at Reiss Stables, and Karate.

“We anticipated an increase in enrollment for the 2014/15 year, at least 20 students, to meet our budget requirements, as we do not receive government funding," said Terry.

"Promoting PEACE has been a challenge due to lack of budget. It is unfortunate for previous students and new registrants that we have not met our mark and at this time are considering a new direction for this much demanded and creative approach to education.”
