OPP seize drugs during RIDE stop.

On July 8th, 2009, North Bay OPP officers were conducting RIDE on Highway 17 in Commanda Township. Shortly before 4:00 am a vehicle was stopped and the driver was found to be a suspended driver. During further conversation and evidence garnered, the driver and passenger were arrested. A search of the vehicle resulted in seizing two containers (kitty litter pales) which contained nine individually packaged plastic bags of suspected marihuana with a total weight of over two kilograms.

Simon J. BROSSOIT, 42 years old, of Chateau Guay, Quebec and Jason DURE, 26 years old of St-Charles, Ontario were both charged with:

• Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana - over 30 grams as per CDSA 4(1)
• Trafficking Schedule II - Cannabis Marihuana under 3 kilograms CDSA 5(1)(i)

Brossoit and Dure were held for bail hearing scheduled in North Bay on the date, July 8th, 2009.
