North Bay and  Sudbury police worked together yesterday, and after a lengthy investigation involving social media arrested and charged a 45-year-old North Bay man with "Luring a Child."

Police say that in 2015 communications began between the man and a 13-year-old. During this time police charge that the young person shared numerous images and videos that would meet the Canadian Criminal Code definition of child pornography.

The investigation, which began in August of 2018, culminated in a February 19 search warrant on a home in North Bay. Several devices including a computer were seized at that time and the accused was arrested.

The investigation continues, and in order to protect the identity of potential victims, the North Bay Police Service says it will not be releasing the name of the accused at this time.

He is in custody for a Show Cause Bail Hearing scheduled for today.

Detective Constable Buchanan of the North Bay Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Section is the Investigating Officer.

Buchanan states that the North Bay Police Service is part of the Ontario Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet, a partnership made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
