On Dec. 29, 2023, members of the North Bay Police Service responded to a stabbing incident in a parking lot outside City Hall, on McIntyre Street in North Bay.

Officers were dispatched to a possible stabbing incident in a parking lot at City Hall. A male was located with lacerations to his face and head area. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries. This was believed to be a targeted attack. The incident was investigated by the North Bay Police Criminal Investigations Unit.

Police say the same male wanted in the City Hall stabbing was later involved in a robbery on Jan. 8, 2024. NBPS says the accused attended a Lakeshore Drive address where he engaged in an argument with the victim. The accused took a bag of the victim’s belongings without their consent, and when the victim attempted to retrieve their belongings, the accused punched the victim in the face and fled the residence. The North Bay Police Service Patrol Section investigated.

As a result of these investigations, two arrest warrants were issued for the accused.

On Tuesday, Feb. 6, NBPS officers attended a Lakeshore Drive address, located the accused, and took him into custody on the two outstanding warrants.

James Albert Dorian, 37, of North Bay has been charged with:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Robbery with violence
