The North Bay Granite Club says it is pulling the pebbled ice out for the rest of the season.

"It is with the health and safety of our members, customers and community in mind that we have decided to close our operation for the balance of the 2019-2020 curling season effective Monday," a message on the website www.northbaycurling.com stated.

This includes all programs, leagues and events including the Coldwell Banker bonspiel which was set to go at the end of the month.

More than 250 curling clubs have, to date, made the decision to close their facilities and suspend their programs, leagues and events due to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

"We thank you for understanding the position we have taken given the circumstances and for having contributed to another exceptional curling season at the North Bay Granite Club," the message continued.

"Please note that our facility is currently locked down and access to lockers will not be permitted until after the pandemic has been lifted. If absolutely urgent, please contact management to arrange an appointment."

Officials say no refunds will be issued for missing spring trimester curling.

They also noted that the Annual General Meeting, which was to take place on Wednesday, April 15 will be rescheduled to a later date yet to be determined.
