Sixteen years after "Forty Words for Sorrow", the first novel in North Bay native and author Giles Blunt’s best-selling John Cardinal Mysteries series, was published, the award-winning novel has been adapted for television.

CTV’s CARDINAL, described as "a gripping, six-part dramatic thriller featuring Billy Campbell as Detective John Cardinal and Karine Vanasse as Detective Lise Delorme," will premiere in Canada on January 25, on CTV at 10 p.m.

The award-winning author grew up in North Bay, and often returns to the city for inspiration says a news release from the producers.

North Bay is thinly disguised as Algonquin Bay, the small town setting in Blunt’s “John Cardinal Mysteries” series.

“Where you grow up affects every writer” says Blunt.

CARDINAL was filmed in winter 2016 in North Bay, Sudbury, Atikameksheng Anishnawbek in Northern Ontario, and Toronto and was produced by Sienna Films and eOne in association with CTV.
