NUSU African Canadian Cultural Club (also known as A.C.C.C) is hosting the 2nd ANNUAL A.C.C.C Black History Month Celebration

On Friday, February 27, 2009 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Nipissing University Theatre (located inside the Nipissing Campus), the students of Nipissing University and members of NUSU’s African Canadian Cultural Club will be putting together a presentation in celebration of Black History Month. The theme of this event is “The Power of Knowledge: a look at our culture”. The community of North Bay as a whole, as well as the school community is sincerely invited to come take part in sharing this experience with students who are working hard and tirelessly to assure the success of this event.

The night will not only be situated on the sharing of our knowledge on history and its importance but it will also be a night of fun and amusement. With an African and Hip-Hop dance performance, poetry and spoken word recitals, power point presentation, as well as a cultural fashion show the night is sure to not only be educative but interestingly entertaining. Highlighting the opening of this event will be a talk by Dr. Bill Plumstead, professor at Nipissing University.

NUSU African Canadian Cultural Club was created at the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year and its main objective is to educate the students and community on social, economic, political and cultural matters that affect African Canadians in our society. This club accentuates the growing diversity of the city of North Bay as well as Nipissing University. With the continual increase in international students attending the University such a club has been beneficial up to date in welcoming these students.

This event is free to the public. All are welcome, children and parents.

“A journey of a thousand steps begins with just one”. Come out and enjoy this wonderful event that is bound to inform as well as entertain.
