Nipissing-Timiskaming MP Jay Aspin officially opened his campaign office today in North Bay.

About thirty supporters, with Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli, joined Aspin for the Conservative cause.

Aspin told the crowd he was running on his record. “I’ve raised the bar considerably and I got results. But I can see there is a whole host of other things that still needs to be done.”

In his speech, Aspin touted his vision for the region, ‘The Way Forward – Nipissing – Timiskaming 2020.’

Aspin says he has been a spark plug for initiatives in North Bay’s aerospace industry and will work for a future launch centre for satellites in Canada. Aspin says he will continue to roll out 30 initiatives before the election.

“The process has started. They will be testing satellite launches in this region next year. There will be people coming from all over North America coming to North Bay to get on these Zero Gravity flights. And we are opening the Aerospace Technology Centre on September 18th, a $5-million dollar building. And we also have the International Space Week coming up October 4th to 11th.”

Aspin says his role on the Space Advisory Board, where he sits alongside Chris Hadfield, melds well with the regions aerospace industry. “We are on our way.”

The new office at 731 Main East is located on the overpass.

37 days to go until election night in Canada, 2015.
