On the 27th of Jan. shortly after noon Cst. Helene Boissonneault and Dave Wilson of the North Bay Police Service were patrolling the downtown section when they were flagged down.

With information received, they located a man a short distance away. There was a complaint of an alleged theft from a variety store.

This suspect was spoken to and a stolen chocolate bar fell from his coat. The man was searched and allegedly found to be in possession of a knife that could be opened with centrifugal force, and numerous pills suspected to be Ecstasy.

Phillip ELLERY 23 years old of Lee Av. is charged with Possession of Stolen Property (several chocolate bars), Theft Under, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (ecstasy pills) and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.

He was kept in custody for a bail hearing.



ASSAULT



On the 29th of Jan. shortly before 1:30 AM a man at a local downtown hotel felt a sharp needle type stab in his neck. This man attended the hospital and was in fact advised that his neck had received a small puncture wound. Our Service would like to advise the public of this action and to further advise the general public to be vigilant when in crowds.



THEFT OF ATV



On the 29th of Jan. at approximately 3:47 AM a thief crashed a 4 wheel ATV out of the compound of Power Sports and Marine on Main St. W. This vehicle was being driven by a person wearing dark clothing and travelling west bound on Main St. W. and then into the housing area alongside Lake Nipissing west of St. Joseph Mother House.

Police are searching for 2006 Sportsman 500 EFI red and black in colour. It is valued at approximately $8500.


BREAK AND ENTERS



Overnight on the 28th of Jan. thieves removed the screen and then opened a window to a garage in the 1300 block of High St. It does not appear that anything was taken. It is believed that the same people also entered an unlocked van and again nothing appears to have been taken.



During daytime hours a thief smashed a rear patio door with a garden ornament to a home in the 100 block of Marshall Park Drive. A male was seen standing in the driveway at approximately 3 PM. This male is described a male white, late teens, wearing dark colour bomber style jacket with fur around the hood, baggy blue jeans and white runners.

The thief stole a Woods back pack, jewellery, a jar containing American bills and coins, playing cards, personal ID, a Cannon computer scanner, Tylenol 3 pills and a Playstation 2 with various games.
