Ottawa: Knowlton Ridge Equestrian Centre attended the prestigious RCMP Horse Auction at RCMP headquarters in Ottawa on Saturday September 26th, 2009. Twenty (20) fine horses were offered for sale. In total, the R.C.M.P. Foundation raised $270,000. at the sale with the proceeds put back into the continued breeding program for the world renowned RCMP Musical Ride.

Knowlton Ridge was the successful bidder for Winnie, a 7 year old black RCMP 17hh mare by the sire Lincoln (R.C.M.P. Hanoverian Stallion) and the dam Kelsey. Winnie is in foal to the RCMP licensed Hanoverian Stallion Dubai and is due to foal in April 2010. Winnie had all the initial training to be in the RCMP Musical Ride, but was given a new career as a broodmare.

Knowlton Ridge then purchased Ginger a 5 month old Hanoverian chestnut filly from the licensed Hanoverian Stallion Dubai out of the approved Hanoverian mare Evening Pebbles who is also the dam of another Knowlton Ridge horse Casper who was purchased at the 2007 RCMP Auction.

The final purchase by KREC was the last and featured horse at the auction, Dimitri, a black 3 year old Hanoverian Stallion standing 16.2 hh. and still growing. His sire is Earl and dam is De Nada. He will become the breeding Stallion for Knowlton Ridge and will stand at stud at the farm. The immediate plans are to enter Dimitri in the Governor General Cup and Lt. Governor Cup Qualifiers on October 10th in Newmarket. If successful, Dimitri will compete in November at the Royal Winter Fair.

Bobbie and Gord Cardwell, the owners of Knowlton Ridge Equestrian Centre are pleased about the purchases and are happy to bring to the area such high quality horses.

Knowlton Ridge is proud to have been successful in the purchase of these fine horses and will hopefully enhance the show levels with Winnie, Ginger and Dimitri in the future.
