Man touches child inappropriately in local park

A man faces sexual assault charges today after an incident at a local park.

Police say that between July 3rd and August 23rd, while the accused was taking care of a child in his home and in a public park, he touched the child inappropriately.

The man and his victim are known to each other.

The complaint was reported to police on the evening of Tuesday August 23rd.

North Bay Police arrested a 69-year old man at his North Bay home on August 25th, and charged him with:

  • One count of sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age; and
  • One count of sexual interference with a person under 16 years of age.

Police said in the interest of protecting the victim’s identity, the they will not be releasing the name of the accused, who was released from custody with a court date scheduled for October 11th.
