Man fished from Lavase River. He's OK!

One man was walking across the lake near the Lavase River

It shows how unsafe ice conditions are on Lake Nipissing.

At just after 9 a.m. today Fire Department personnel from Station 3 and Station 1 made an ice water rescue on Lake Nipissing. 

"One man was walking across the lake near the Lavase River when he went through the ice," said Greg Saunders, Deputy Fire Chief.

"Fire department personnel deployed our new Rapid Deployment Craft and safely performed the rescue.  One person was taken to hospital for observation."

 Saunders says that ice conditions are unsafe and deteriorating.
