A North Bay man is under arrest after a random encounter Sunday on Fisher St. in which a woman was threatened.

Police say at 7 p.m. on December 5,  officers responded to reports that the man had approached and threatened an adult female victim outside a business on Fisher Street.

The woman was helped by store staff to ensure her safety and police arrived shortly thereafter, found the man still outside the business, and arrested him.

A police search of the man revealed he was carrying a knife.

Jeremy Jonathon Donald Giroux, 29, of North Bay, is charged with "Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm."

The victim did not know Giroux.

Giroux is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
