A heavily used city street will be closed for the next few months.

Phase two of the Ferguson Street reconstruction project will start this week for
the installation of new sewers and watermain and reconstruction of the road.

A news release from the city says for the duration of the construction season, Ferguson will be closed between Fifth Avenue and Third Avenue with the intersections of Third and Fifth open
to cross traffic.

At the end of the 2014 construction season, one layer of asphalt will be in place and the roadway will be open for the winter.

In the spring of 2015, construction will recommence on Ferguson between Third Avenue and Worthington Street.

Project Manager Adam Lacombe told BayToday he expects the entire to b finished by the end of August next year.

Phase one was completed this summer with the installation of a larger 4 x 6 pipe to solve a flooding problem.
