Local pharmacist spots fake Fentanyl patches. Police arrest two men.

North Bay police say that on seven occasions from August 2015 to March 2016, a man brought in counterfeit Fentanyl patches to a local pharmacy in order to renew his prescription under the Patch4Patch program.

He is also accused of trafficking Fentanyl patches, with a street value estimated at $9,000, during this time period.

Police add that on five occasions from August 2015 to February 2016, a second man brought in counterfeit Fentanyl patches to a local pharmacy in order to renew his prescription.

Following an investigation into a complaint from a local pharmacy regarding the receipt of suspected counterfeit Fentanyl patches, police arrested two men at their homes on Thursday April 7th.

A 58-year old North Bay man was charged with:

  • Seven counts of fraud under $5,000; and
  • Seven counts of drug trafficking.

A 50-year old North Bay man was charged with:

  • five counts of fraud under $5,000.

Both accused were released from custody with a court date scheduled for June 7th.
