Letterkenny star to headline North Bay Comedy Festival

"This would be a good lineup in Toronto."

Award winning comedian K. Trevor Wilson will be the headliner for the second annual North Bay Comedy Festival which will take place at the White Water Gallery starting on Thursday, July 14th and conclude with the headline act on Saturday night.

Wilson, won the Canadian Comedy Award for Best Male Comic last year and is one of the main actors in the series Letterkenny where he plays “Squirrelly Dan”.

Series two of that Canadian Comedy is currently being shot in Sudbury.

“K. Trev is a great guy, I opened for him a couple weeks ago,” admitted local comedian and event organizer Clint Couchie.

“K. Trevor is a really good story teller, I’ve seen him do one bit for 10 or 15 minutes all about the same thing.”

Couchie is excited about the 2016 lineup which he says would be considered very good for a Toronto Comedy Festival.

“It’s Canada, where we don’t make our comedians too famous,” admitted Couchie.

“Mike Rita is a big ‘Just for Laughs’ guy, he’s opened for a lot of CBC shows.  Kathleen McGee has opened for Russell Peters when he is around, Darren Frost has been huge in Canada for about 10 years.”

Couchie says the seating will be limited to about 80 guests per night at the Gallery.  He believes an event like this is good for North Bay and the downtown.

“We are in the White Water Gallery this year so it’s nice to help them out,” said Couchie.

“We just want to have a good time. We aren’t looking at turning this into a big corporate thing it’s just come down, see some artists you wouldn’t normally see in town here and come down for some laughs.”
